This week the Western Queensland Alliance of Councils met for the first time, hosted by Longreach Regional Council. Federal representatives in attendance were Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud; Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport Scott Buchholz; Queensland Senator James McGrath; and the Agency’s Regional Recovery Officers Tahna Jackson, Rachel O’Brien and Advisor on regional matters Bruce Scott.

Under the leadership of Coordinator-General Shane Stone, the Agency looks forward to working with the Western Queensland Alliance as part of our ongoing work on recovery from drought and the 2019 North Queensland floods. The Alliance unites the 21 councils through their representative bodies: North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (NWQROC); Remote Area Planning and Development Board (RAPAD); and the South West Local Government Association (SWLGA).
