King & Company

King & Company are specialist legal advisors to the Queensland local government sector.

Our core practice is the provision of legal advice, court representation and other legal services to Councils (and the LGAQ) on all legal issues that have significant or particular impact on Queensland local government. And, from Carpentaria Shire Council in the north to Boulia out west and Barcoo down south, we’ve got Councils covered.

At King & Company we understand Queensland’s regional and remote local governments are almost as disparate as they are similar.

Different because their geographical location dictates unique characteristics of distance, terrain, climate and the size of their rates. But alike because of their responsibilities to provide vital services to residents and those passing through.

Shared also are the challenges of providing effective governance to deliver these essential services and amenities, while meeting the demands of public accountability and navigating complex laws directing and controlling everything local governments and their staff and councillors do.

It’s a legislative minefield but one we’re adept at traversing since we’ve been 130 years in the business of providing legal services to local governments right across the State.
